Give Your Company an Identity

One of the most important marketing tools for any company wishing to increase their name recognition within their industry or to the general public is a company logo. A well thought out custom logo design should create an image that represents a company’€™s aspirations and ideals. It should be simple, yet memorable.

There are many examples of national and internationally known companies that are easily recognized by their logo. Who does not associate the Playboy Bunny with the magazine? The circular hood ornament divided into 3 triangular sections on a Mercedes Benz instantly identifies the luxury car maker’s brand. Google, which has a unique company name to start with, has turned that name into an easily recognized company logo design by using a slightly off-beat font and multi-colored lettering in its name.

Whether you are a world famous company or just want to develop some credibility within your industry, some deep thought should be given to the logo you select to represent your company. The logo should be used on everything from company letterhead to ads for the company’s products. It should be incorporated into product labels and can even be embedded in the plastic or other materials used to make certain products.

Look around your office. You might see a Dell computer with the tilted “E”, the blue “Intel Inside” logo and the MSFT blue globe with its 4-colored wavy flag inside. The thing about these and many other well-known company logos is that they become an imbedded memory in the viewer’s mind. No one has to spell out the company name for you to recognize the apple that symbolizes the world’s most successful technology company.

A company can design their own logo if they are so inclined. There are also many excellent professional graphic design companies that can create a memorable logo. While ideally, your company logo should remain constant, many times, changing the logo gives a business the opportunity to reassert itself as a new and improved company.
